First up, a quick trip to NYC for me. I went for work, but got to experience a little of the city. I tried to do a few things I had not done before, and was successful. I was gone three nights. I must say, traveling to NYC while 25 weeks pregnant was quite a feat. From the connecting flights (two of which were canceled and required some reshuffling) to cab rides to hot weather and a decent amount of walking, I was exhausted and sick by the time I got home. I caught some kind of cold and it knocked me out a couple days. Needless to say, no more air travel is in my future for the rest of the pregnancy.
Two of the main highlights of the trip were eating at Locande Verde in Tribeca where we saw Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone, and the other was going to the Top of the Rock. I also stayed in Times Square for the first time. Would I stay in Times Square again? I don’t think so. My boss made me come to her hotel room to check out her view. When I walked into her room…. well, let’s just say that no one needs to see Jay-Z that up close and personal except Beyonce. His face was staring at us! It was daylight 24/7. Thank goodness for black out curtains! Being so centrally located in the city was a big plus though.
This second child has had quite the ride so far. From California to Ohio to Texas to the Gulf Coast to NYC and finally to Georgia for a friends wedding (below). Thankfully, I just have one last small girls trip to the beach I am gearing up for, and this mama is retiring for a little while. 🙂
While I was in NYC, my mom kept Preston while Brian worked. P has been kind of coming and going from daycare this summer as we travel and as he spends time with other family members. My mom took him to the zoo, but I think the best was when she took him to visit my dad at the University of Memphis. My dad has worked there for over 30 years, and my mom took this pic of them in his office. So cute! Preston then had lunch in the U of M cafeteria with my parents. He came home saying “Go Tigers Go!”
July 4 weekend we left Preston with my parents for a night and headed to Atlanta for a college friend’s wedding. It was so great to catch up with everyone, who we rarely get to see anymore. Our days of traveling to Athens for football games have been non existent, although we hope to take Preston to a Georgia football game sometime in the next few years.
We did get to spend Thursday, July 4 with Preston and it was a blast. We went swimming at Brian’s parents house, where Preston bravely showed us how fearless he is. He enjoyed jumping into the pool, and even begged to jump off the diving board. Did I mention that he also didn’t want our help? Lord help us! He’s not even 2 and half yet!
After swimming, we went to my parents house for a cookout. My sister-in-laws mom came too, and it was great catching up with her. We all enjoyed playing with Preston and eating some awesome food.
Here’s to a great 4-day weekend and fun times with friends.
