Margo is three weeks old today. 🙂
She is gaining weight at about a half ounce a day, which is great according to her pediatrician. She is in the 50th percentile for everything at this point.
In terms of Margo’s personality, she is super laid back. There are only a couple things that make her cry – diaper changes and baths. She can totally handle all the loud noises and banging from big brother, and loves her sound machine, swaddling and eating! She is starting to be awake more and more, but she hardly makes a sound when she is awake. She will just gaze around contently.
At night, her sleeping is a bit erradic, either sleeping in 3 hour stretches or even sometimes 6 hour stretches. She will occasionally have periods of restlessness from 9 p.m. until sometimes midnight or later, but Brian will usually step in for that, since I’m feeding every 3 hours. He’ll give her a bottle of formula almost every night – I like to call it “supplementing for sanity”, plus she came home with a bit of jaundice and formula helps that.
Now for the Preston update, he loves her. He is interested in her, includes in her things, and always wants to “see her.” The first couple weeks were a bit rough for him in terms of sharing mom and dad, but I do think it is starting to get better. It’s a big adjustment for him and I’m so proud of him for always being so sweet to her. When he comes in the door from school, he looks for her and tells me he missed her, and always kisses her head and includes her in conversation. He is a bit confused as to why she can’t DO more, and I can tell he is looking forward to the day when they can actually play together.
I think the neatest thing about the two kids so far is how DIFFERENT they already are. I try not to compare and contrast them, but it’s just amazing how we are all born with our little personalities. We are who we are, even from the beginning. I love seeing this unfold in the two of them everyday.
That pretty much sums up our first three weeks as a family of four. 🙂
