Preston had a couple big firsts I wanted to document this summer.
He had his first dentist visit. I have never seen a kid so excited about going to the dentist. It was absolutely hilarious! He cooperated perfectly and we are very happy with the dentist we chose. He got a great report, and everything is looking good. No cavities and nice spacing between teeth. She was actually able to do a real cleaning on him, and she was surprised how well he cooperated. To be honest, I was too! I asked if she could share her tricks with me, since I can never get him that still and cooperative. 😉
We also signed him up for two weeks of swim lessons. We looked into a few different programs/approaches and chose the no pressure, easy does it lessons at The Pool School at St. George’s. It was a good experience, but I am not sure if he really got a lot out of it. I think he wasn’t totally ready, to be honest. But it definitely helped with pool safety, his backfloat, and going under and coming back up. They also worked on how to get to the side of the pool and “monkey crawl” around the side to the stairs. All of those things are a good swimming foundation, so we’ll see. He took the lessons right before we went to the beach, but we still wanted him to wear floaties in the ocean, just to be on the safe side. It will all click for him one day!
